Power will be the ultimate culmination of the explanatory method of his previous works, following the story of power back to the beginnings of biological evolution and up to the age of artificial intelligence and climate chaos. Power traces how humans became nature's greatest power addicts and shows how limiting and sharing power can enable our survival. Power explores the historic factors and social complexity that gave humans extraordinary power over nature: toolmaking ability, language, and the ability to harness energy sources in addition to food. Power argues that climate change and social inequality are problems of power, something the competition glosses over.
